So the Lakewood Academy is up and rolling, and growing every day! We are proud to announce that we have added some new classes this month--First, we have added in a Judo for Jiu-Jitsu class, which focuses on Judo throws as they potentially apply to both BJJ competition and MMA competition. This class will work as a bit of a "think-tank," of sorts, where our student and Denver Judo blackbelt Steve Alvaro will be supplying the techniques, and we will be working together as a class to discern the best ways to apply them to various gi and nogi applications! This is the kind of class you wont find anywhere else, and is only made possible because of our relationship with our good friends at Denver Judo--the class is included in your BJJ membership, so come on out! Class meets Tues / Thurs from 5-6pm.
We have also added in another BJJ class at noon on Wednesdays, so those of you in the day program this class gives you yet another oportunity to train each week, don't miss it, we've got a good crew of guys training at noon these days!
Those of you who have interest in learning to compete in mixed martial arts, we are preparing to launch the mma class this week as well, so contact us if you're interested, as you will need approval from both Rodrigo and Ethan before you can begin to put your BJJ and strking skills together into one cohesive strategy. The class has a $10 add on to your membership, and you must be signed up for both BJJ and Muay Thai to be eligable.
We are encouraging EVERYONE who is a member of our team to create an account within our forum, so that we can improve the cohesiveness and communication of our team. GRAND OPENING, LAKEWOOD LOCATION THIS SATURDAY MAY 14!!!
We are proud to be officially opening our Lakewood location at 7105 W. Colfax Lakewood CO 80214 on Saturday, May 14 2011 at 11:00AM. The grand opening event will feature prize giveaways as well as a self defense seminar and a training session afterwards. Please invite all your friends to come out and see what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is all about by training with us on this special day!
Here is the schedule of events:
11:00AM--Meet and greet, meet the instructors, pass out information.
11:30AM--12:00PM--Seminar begins, (eveyone who is on the mats must sign a waiver!!)
12:00PM--12:30PM Training session / demonstration (students only!)
12:30PM--1:00PM--Muay Thai intro course (everyone on mats must sign a waiver!!)
The facility will be about 90% done for the event, we have a few more pieces of equipment such as bag racks etc. that will be being installed in the coming weeks, but otherwise the academy is looking stellar! We've been training all week there and getting it ready for action! See you on the mats Saturday--oh yeah, bring all your friends!!!
NEW DENVER JIU JITSU LAKEWOOD COLORADO LOCATION!!!
We are proud to announce that we are opening a new full facility in lakewood, colorado. Denver Jiu-Jitsu West is a 3000 square foot facility and will feature over 1000 square feet of mat space, along with classes 6 days per week in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing as well as MMA!!! The facility will also feature a retail section operated by our brand, Eminent Fight Company, where anyone can buy BJJ / MMA gear and apparel!
Our downtown program at Denver Dojo will continue as normal, and we will be bringing on another instructor to help cover the bases. The new academy will have daytime classes 2-3 days per week, Friday night open mats, and much more, in addition to night classes Monday through Thursday night! There will be more oportunities to train than ever with this new location, contact us for more details and rates, as we have EXCLUSIVE pre-sale deals going on at the new location that will save you big $$$!
A grand opening is tenatively scheduled for Saturday May 7, 2011 from 11am to 3pm (this date is subject to change depending on how long our mats etc. take in production). The grand opening celebration will feature food, drinks, equipment raffles, grappling demonstrations, and a full street self defense seminar that is open to the full public to watch (registration may be required to come on the mats). SCHEDULE CHANGES, FRIDAY NIGHT CROSSOVER CLASS AND MORE!
We are adding back in our Monday/Wednesday 12:30-1:30 beginner's jiu-jitsu class @ Denver Dojo! starting next monday 3/21 that class is officially back in gear!
We are also bringing back the Friday evening class, but with some exciting changes. We have arranged with our friends at Denver Judo to create a crossover class, so that ALL Denver Jiu-jitsu students are welcome to attend the Friday night judo class from 6-7:30pm @ Denver Dojo, and then ALL Denver Judo students are welcomed to stay for our jiu-jitsu class from 7:30-8:30. This means that not only do you gain a full 2 1/2 hours of time to train, but the first hour and a half will be spent learning some amazing judo throws to add into your competition game! Don't miss this oportunity to expand your martial arts horizions and improve your standup and grip fighting abilities.

ACADEMY GI'S / PATCHES
Academy Gi's are en-route, they should arrive very early next week, reserve yours now! We also have embroidered patches of our competition logo both large and small, so look for those. We will also have a few sample Eminent Fight Company gi's in size A-2 (some black, blue and white), so if anyone is interested in those let us know.
SPRING CLEANING AT DENVER DOJO APRIL 24
We are doing spring cleaning at Denver Dojo on Saturday, April 24. I will post more details later, but please pencil us in and come help keep the facility clean and organized, we need to take pride in the place we train so come pitch in!
